The Andhra Pradesh government has approved a ₹1,000 crore guarantee to support financing for the Andhra Pradesh Airports Development Corporation Limited (APADCL), aimed at accelerating the development of multiple greenfield airports across the state.
According to G.O. Ms. No.8, issued by N Yuvaraj, Secretary (Infrastructure & Investment – Airports), the funding will be primarily directed towards land acquisition and external infrastructure development for four airports: Kuppam, Dagadarthi, Srikakulam, and Amaravati.
This initiative forms part of a broader plan to develop eight greenfield airports at:
Srikakulam, Bhogapuram, Tuni–Annavaram, Tadepalligudem, Ongole, Kuppam, Dagadarthi, Nagarjuna Sagar
The government also aims to operationalise Bhogapuram International Airport and establish a greenfield international airport at Amaravati, enhancing regional air connectivity and driving economic development.
An in-principle administrative sanction of ₹1,570.64 crore has been approved for land acquisition. To facilitate financing, the APADCL Managing Director has been instructed to approach financial institutions, resulting in a request for a ‘shortfall government guarantee’ to secure the ₹1,000 crore loan from HUDCO.
The Techno-Economic Feasibility Reports (TeFRs) for Kuppam and Dagadarthi have been completed, while feasibility studies for Srikakulam and Amaravati are currently underway. These four projects will be developed as part of Phase 1.
