Ayodhya Airport's Rs 1,625 Crore Transformation

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is set to expand Ayodhya Airport with an investment of Rs 1,625 crore to significantly boost its passenger handling capacity.

Slated for completion in 28 months, the expansion will increase the airport’s annual capacity from 0.16 million passengers per annum (MPPA) to 6 MPPA, catering to the surge in visitors following the grand opening of the Ram Mandir on January 22, 2024.

To accommodate growing air traffic, the number of aircraft bays will rise from 8 to 18, facilitating smoother flight operations and improved airline connectivity. The total airport area will also expand from 141 hectares to 331 hectares, enhancing facilities and operational efficiency.

With environmental clearance already secured from the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, the project is set for swift execution.
