Bhogapuram Airport: Almost Done, Trial Flight Next Month

Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu announced that the construction of Bhogapuram International Airport has reached 91.7% completion, with trial operations scheduled to begin next month.

During his visit to the site, accompanied by Vizianagaram MP Kalisetty Appala Naidu, the Minister emphasised that the airport’s development is designed to reflect the region’s cultural heritage while creating significant local employment opportunities. Rapid progress is being made on taxiway and runway construction, marking a key phase in the project’s completion.

The Minister also revealed plans to attract aviation companies and initiate flight operations from the new airport. Additionally, the government is working to establish an aviation university nearby, alongside the development of five-star hotels to support tourism and business travel.

To further empower the local workforce, skill development centres are being set up in Srikakulam and Bhogapuram. Minister Naidu expressed hope to invite Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inaugurate the airport upon completion.
