The Bihar State Cabinet, under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, has approved the development of six new airports across the state as part of the Centre’s UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) regional connectivity scheme.
The proposed airports will be established in Madhubani, Birpur (Supaul), Munger, Valmiki Nagar (Bettiah), Muzaffarpur, and Saharsa. To facilitate the development, the state government will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Airports Authority of India (AAI). A total allocation of ₹150 crore has been made for the project, with ₹25 crore designated for each airport, according to Additional Chief Secretary S. Siddharth.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved the issuance of a Letter of Award (LoA) to Kumar Infratrade Enterprises for constructing a five-star hotel in Patna near Income Tax Golumber. The hotel will be developed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model on a 90-year lease.
