Noida Takes Flight: Rs 10,056 Crore International Airport Underway

The initial stage of constructing the upcoming international airport in Noida is projected to incur a total expense of Rs 10,056 crore, with approximately Rs 7,100 crore already invested in the project. As of now, about 70 percent of the financial outlay has been utilized, encompassing expenses related to land acquisition and developmental activities.

On January 29, 2024, S P Goyal, the Additional Chief Secretary to the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, conducted an inspection to assess the ongoing advancements at the Jewar airport. Notably, there has been an augmentation in both machinery and workforce at the airport site.

The first phase of the airport's development spans across 1,300 hectares and is slated to conclude, opening for flight operations, by September of this year. This initial phase, assigned the code DXN, will feature a single runway and a terminal building equipped to accommodate 12 million passengers annually.

The progression of this project is managed by Yamuna International Airport (YIAPL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Zurich International Airport AG, which serves as the concessionaire for the greenfield airport. The construction tasks related to the terminal building, air traffic control (ATC) tower, and runway are actively underway through the efforts of the EPC contractor, Tata Projects.
