The Government of Maharashtra has approved a state guarantee for a ₹6,000 crore loan to be raised by the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) to support land acquisition for the proposed Chhatrapati Sambhaji Raje International Airport in Purandar, Pune district.
The guarantee will be valid for one year, within which the funds are expected to be mobilised and used for purchasing land and compensating affected farmers. A government resolution has already been issued to implement the decision. The project, which requires around 3,000 acres, is a major greenfield airport initiative aimed at improving regional connectivity. The state had initially cleared the loan proposal in February.
To execute the project, a special purpose vehicle (SPV) will be set up, involving key agencies such as the Maharashtra Airport Development Company, City and Industrial Development Corporation, and Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority.
