Neuron Energy, a Mumbai-based EV battery manufacturer, has entered the grid-scale energy storage segment with the commissioning of a battery energy storage system (BESS) manufacturing facility in Talegaon, Maharashtra.
The project, involving a capital expenditure of ₹100 crore, is designed to cater to solar developers, commercial and industrial consumers, as well as utility providers across domestic and international markets. Spread over seven acres, the facility is a fully automated, robotics-driven plant dedicated to manufacturing containerised BESS units. It has an annual production capacity of 5 GWh and can produce up to 1,000 units per year.
These modular systems are intended for deployment in solar and grid infrastructure to store surplus energy and supply it during peak demand periods, thereby enhancing energy efficiency and reliability. The facility is also expected to generate over 500 direct and indirect employment opportunities across engineering, manufacturing, system integration, and technical services.
Commenting on the development, Pratik Kamdar, Co-founder and CEO of Neuron Energy, said that the company’s entry into the grid-scale BESS segment marks a natural progression in its advanced energy solutions journey. He highlighted that as renewable energy adoption accelerates in India, scalable and reliable storage infrastructure will be critical to strengthening the power ecosystem, adding that the Talegaon facility aligns with the company’s vision to deliver high-performance energy storage solutions for both domestic and global markets.
