Charged Up: Zelio E-Mobility Opens New EV Plant in Coimbatore!

Zelio E-Mobility has officially inaugurated its newest electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing facility in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, boosting its total annual production capacity to 240,000 units.

Located at Trichy Road, Kannampalayam, the 39,000 sq. ft. plant represents a capital investment of ₹1 crore, funded entirely through internal accruals. The facility commenced operations on July 13, 2026, adding 60,000 units of annual capacity to the company's network. During its initial phase, the plant will focus on manufacturing and assembling 24,000 to 30,000 electric two-wheelers per year, with plans to scale production over the next 12 to 24 months.

This expansion marks a 33% increase over Zelio’s previous capacity of 180,000 units per year (which operated at 40% utilization). The Coimbatore plant is strategically positioned to serve key southern and western markets, including Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and South Maharashtra. It joins Zelio’s existing manufacturing network in Ladwa and Patan (Haryana) and Cuttack (Odisha), and is expected to accelerate dealer expansion and local job creation.
