Tata Power Delhi Distribution (Tata Power-DDL) has joined hands with Magna Yuma to roll out battery-swapping stations for electric vehicles (EVs) in Delhi, marking a significant step toward clean mobility and carbon-free urban transport.
As part of the partnership, Tata Power-DDL will offer dedicated space at its facilities, while Magna Yuma will manage the design, installation, and upkeep of the battery-swapping infrastructure. The initial phase includes two stations at Tata Power-DDL's Shalimar Bagh and Badli Grid substations in North Delhi—an area that the utility serves with nearly nine million residents.
The initiative is designed to minimise EV charging time by enabling quick battery swaps, thereby enhancing convenience and accelerating EV adoption across the capital. Dwijadas Basak, CEO of Tata Power-DDL, noted that the collaboration aligns with the company’s green energy vision and commitment to sustainable urban mobility.
By leveraging existing grid infrastructure, the model offers a scalable, utility-integrated solution for other cities looking to fast-track their transition to low-emission transport systems under India’s broader clean energy goals.
