Hyundai's Growth Engine Starts Strong in Talegaon

Hyundai Motor India (HMIL) has begun production of passenger vehicle engines at its newly acquired manufacturing facility in Talegaon, Maharashtra, marking a significant step in its expansion strategy. Located at Plot No. A-16, MIDC, Talegaon Industrial Area, Phase-II Expansion, Tehsil-Maval, Pune district, the plant was acquired from General Motors in 2023.

In a regulatory filing, HMIL stated: “The Company has successfully commenced production of Passenger Vehicle Engines at its Manufacturing Facility ‘Talegaon Plant’... with effect from today.”

The Talegaon facility has an installed annual capacity of 1,30,000 units. This operational milestone aligns with Hyundai’s broader strategy to boost local manufacturing capabilities and improve supply chain efficiency. As part of its long-term investment plans, Hyundai signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the governments of Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra in 2023, committing Rs 32,000 crore to expand its manufacturing footprint in India.
