Maruti’s Gujarat Gambit: A ₹4,960 Crore Bet on Growth

Maruti Suzuki India has approved the acquisition of land at the Khoraj Industrial Estate in Gujarat from the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) to expand its manufacturing capacity in line with rising domestic and export demand.

The company currently has an annual production capacity of 24 lakh units across its plants in Gurugram, Manesar, Kharkhoda and Hansalpur, with the potential to scale this up to 26 lakh units. The proposed expansion at Khoraj is expected to add up to one million units of capacity and will involve an investment of ₹4,960 crore towards land acquisition and related development.

Separately, Maruti Suzuki has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) to improve customer convenience. Under the partnership, Maruti Suzuki service facilities will be set up at select IOCL fuel stations, offering scheduled maintenance and minor repair services at refuelling locations.

The initiatives underscore Maruti Suzuki’s focus on capacity expansion, operational efficiency and enhancing customer experience as it continues to scale its operations in India and overseas markets.
