Mercedes-Benz drives into future with Rs 200 crore Chakan plant boost

Mercedes-Benz India is set to make a significant investment of Rs 200 crore in its manufacturing operations, new product startups, capacity expansion, and the digitization of manufacturing processes at its Chakan factory near Pune, Maharashtra, this year. This move will bring the company's cumulative investment in India to an impressive Rs 3,000 crore.

Anticipating a transformative year in 2024, the automotive giant plans to introduce over 12 new products, including three electric vehicles (EVs). Among these launches is the New GLS, a spacious luxury SUV available in both petrol and diesel variants, with prices starting at Rs 1.32 crore.

In addition to product expansion, Mercedes-Benz is set to establish 20 new workshops and extend its presence to 10 new cities, all powered by green energy. The company is also committed to elevating customer experience by upgrading 25 facilities to meet international MAR 20X standards.

Emphasizing its commitment to the Indian market, the brand will focus on delivering superior products, introducing top-end vehicles (TEV), and providing tailored solutions to meet the specific needs of Indian consumers.
