Tata Elxsi and Infineon Technologies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly develop next-generation electric vehicle (EV) systems tailored to India’s growing mobility needs. The collaboration will target a broad range of applications, including electric two-wheelers, three-wheelers, passenger vehicles, and commercial vehicles, with a focus on high-voltage inverters, battery management systems, onboard chargers, and thermal management solutions.
The partnership will also explore advanced opportunities in emerging segments such as electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft, energy systems, and off-highway vehicles.
As part of the agreement:
Tata Elxsi will bring its deep expertise in automotive system design and integration
Infineon will contribute cutting-edge semiconductor technologies, including silicon carbide components, automotive-grade microcontrollers, and integrated circuits
The alliance is aimed at developing safe, high-performance, and scalable EV subsystems that meet stringent Automotive Safety Integrity Level D (ASIL-D) standards under ISO 26262, ensuring reliability and safety in critical automotive applications.
“Several of our existing EV platforms already leverage Infineon SoCs and components. This MoU provides a sharper collaborative focus and system-level alignment,” said Nambi Ganesh, Head of Automotive at Tata Elxsi.
Kenneth Lim, Senior Vice President, Infineon Asia-Pacific, added, “Together, we aim to accelerate the development of ready-to-integrate EV solutions that combine performance, safety, and cutting-edge semiconductor innovation.”
The partnership comes amid a 25–30% surge in India’s EV sales in 2024, highlighting strong momentum in the country’s transition to sustainable mobility.
