Stellantis India has secured full ownership of its Thiruvallur manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu by acquiring the remaining stake from Hindustan Motor Finance Corporation (HMFCL), a CK Birla Group company. Funded through foreign direct investment (FDI), this move allows for faster decision-making and deeper operational integration.
The plant—which currently builds the Citroën C3 and other models with over 95% localization—benefits from a robust local supply chain. This acquisition follows a cumulative investment of over €1 billion by Stellantis in Indian manufacturing, product development, and capability building, reinforcing the company's long-term growth strategy in the region.
