Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has secured a contract worth approximately ₹2,800 crore for the Syngas Purification Plant (LSTK-2 Package) from Bharat Coal Gasification and Chemicals Limited (BCGCL).

The company has received the Letter of Acceptance (LoA) from BCGCL. The scope of work includes design and engineering, supply of equipment, civil construction, erection, commissioning, and operations and maintenance (O&M) services for the syngas plant. The project is scheduled for completion within 42 months from the date of the LoA, followed by a 60-month O&M period after preliminary acceptance.

The contract forms part of BCGCL’s 2,000 tonnes per day (TPD) Ammonium Nitrate Project at Lakhanpur in Jharsuguda district, Odisha. BCGCL is a joint venture between Coal India Limited, which holds a 51 percent stake, and BHEL, which holds the remaining 49 percent. The project is aimed at strengthening coal-to-chemical initiatives and advancing coal gasification infrastructure in India.
