Ester-Loop JV to Build ₹1,600 Crore Chemical Recycling Facility in Surat

Ester Industries, a leading manufacturer of polyester films and specialty polymers, in joint venture with Loop Industries, has secured land near Surat, Gujarat, for setting up India’s first Infinite Loop™ manufacturing facility under their JV, Ester Loop Infinite Technologies (ELITe).

The Seller Group has agreed to transfer the identified land parcels for the ₹1,600 crore greenfield project, which will house a cutting-edge chemical recycling plant. Strategically located within the Petroleum, Chemicals and Petrochemicals Investment Region (PCPIR), the site offers key advantages—access to abundant polyester textile waste, a skilled petrochemical workforce, and close proximity to a deep-water seaport for efficient logistics.

The facility will recycle polyester textile waste into virgin-quality polyethylene terephthalate (PET) resin, supporting India's circular economy objectives. With an initial capacity of 70,000 tonnes per annum—expandable by an additional 1,00,000 tonnes—the plant is designed to reduce carbon emissions by up to 80% compared to traditional PET production methods.

Powered by nearly 80% renewable electricity and biofuels, the ELITe facility marks a significant milestone in sustainable plastics manufacturing and positions Gujarat as a hub for next-generation recycling technologies.
