GAIL Fuels Up: ₹844 Cr Boost for Key Pipeline Network

GAIL (India) Ltd, the state-owned gas utility, has announced an investment of ₹844 crore to upgrade the capacity of its Dahej-Uran-Dabhol-Panvel (DUPL-DPPL) natural gas pipeline network. The current operational capacity of 19.9 million standard cubic meters per day (mmscmd) will be expanded to 22.5 mmscmd over the next three years. The decision was approved by GAIL’s Board of Directors on June 23.

In a separate update, GAIL has revised the completion deadline for its 1,702-km Mumbai-Nagpur-Jharsuguda (MNJPL) pipeline project from June 30 to September 30, 2025. The project cost has also increased by ₹411.12 crore, bringing the total to ₹8,255.37 crore, up from the originally sanctioned ₹7,844.25 crore. The delay is attributed to challenges in obtaining forest, NBWL, and highway clearances.

Currently, 98% of the Nagpur-Jharsuguda and 97% of the Nagpur-Jabalpur segments are complete, with only minor stretches pending due to land acquisition issues.

GAIL has also extended the timeline for its 744-km Srikakulam-Angul pipeline from June to December 2025. Of the 322 km of planned spur lines, 252 km have been completed so far.
