The installation of a gas pipeline connecting Mizoram and Tripura is currently in progress under the North East Gas Grid (NEGG) initiative.
The project aims to extend household gas connections to Mizoram, particularly benefiting residents of Aizawl. The 119 km pipeline, running from Panisagar in Tripura to Sihhmui near Aizawl, includes 104 km within Mizoram and the remaining stretch in Tripura.
During a recent review meeting, Mizoram’s Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister B. Lalchhanzova reported that 23.5% (28 km) of the work has been completed.
The state government is working closely with Indradhanush Gas Grid Limited (IGGL), the executing agency, to expedite project completion. Once operational, the pipeline will significantly enhance access to natural gas in the region, supporting clean energy adoption and regional development.
