GAIL (India) has extended the completion deadline for its Mumbai–Nagpur–Jharsuguda Pipeline (MNJPL) project to 31 December 2025, from the earlier target of 30 September 2025.
The 1,702-km natural gas pipeline spans three sections: Mumbai–Nagpur (693 km), Nagpur–Jharsuguda (692 km), and Nagpur–Jabalpur (317 km). Mechanical construction is largely complete across the network. The Mumbai–Nagpur section is currently awaiting approval from the Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation (PESO). In Odisha and Chhattisgarh, large segments are ready for commissioning, pending the same clearance.
Remaining work includes around 9 km in Maharashtra on the Nagpur–Jharsuguda section and 1.8 km on the Nagpur–Jabalpur line, both expected to be completed by October 2025.
Separately, GAIL’s board has approved the doubling of capacity for the Jamnagar–Loni LPG pipeline from 3.25 MMTPA to 6.5 MMTPA, with an estimated investment of ₹5,363.88 crore. The expansion will be executed within 36 months of receiving regulatory approval, expected by July 2025, and will be financed through a combination of debt and equity.
