Sabarmati Gas Ltd., a joint venture between Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (BPCL), is set to supply piped natural gas (PNG) to the Gandhinagar Military Station at Chiloda, marking the first Indian Army facility in Gujarat to receive PNG connectivity.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed on 21 June 2025 between the Indian Army and Sabarmati Gas. Under the agreement, PNG will be supplied to approximately 600 residential units and 20 canteens/mess facilities within the military station. The project involves laying an 18-kilometre pipeline network, which is expected to be completed by October 2025. Once operational, the initiative will provide around 2,000 residents with a safe, reliable, and cost-effective energy source.
Sabarmati Gas currently serves five districts in North Gujarat, with a customer base that includes 3.25 lakh domestic users and 1,550 industrial and commercial clients. It also operates 161 CNG stations, reinforcing its position as a major contributor to the region’s clean energy infrastructure.
