Big Bet in Jammu & Kashmir: Orchid Pharma Invests ₹600 Crore in New Plant

Orchid Pharma Limited is set to embark on an ambitious project to produce 7-Aminocephalosporanic Acid at their new facility in Jammu, Jammu & Kashmir. With an investment of 600 Crores, the project aims to achieve a production capacity of 1000 tonnes per annum.

The new facility is strategically located to leverage the benefits of Jammu & Kashmir's evolving industrial landscape. This location was chosen for its logistical advantages and the availability of a skilled workforce, which is crucial for pharmaceutical manufacturing.

7-Aminocephalosporanic Acid, or 7-ACA, is a vital component used in the synthesis of cephalosporin antibiotics, which are among the most widely prescribed antibiotics due to their effectiveness against a broad range of bacterial infections. The demand for 7-ACA is consistently strong, making this project not only viable but also potentially very profitable.

Orchid Pharma's project includes state-of-the-art equipment and technology to ensure high-quality production standards. The plant is designed to be environmentally friendly, incorporating waste treatment facilities and measures to minimize environmental impact.
