GAIL Seeking Madhya Pradesh Enablers for 60,000-Crore Ethane Cracker Project

GAIL (India) is set to establish an ethane cracker project in Madhya Pradesh, involving an investment of Rs 60,000 crore. The project, targeting an annual production capacity of 1,500 kilotons, marks a significant expansion of GAIL's petrochemical operations, reinforcing its industry presence.

The natural gas giant has requested the state government to provide essential support for the project. This includes allocating around 800 hectares of land by the MP Industrial Development Corporation, a process that has already commenced.

GAIL's board will seek investment approval once project enablers are favorably resolved. This approval is crucial for the project's progression and overall success.

In addition to the industrial infrastructure, GAIL plans to develop a 70-hectare township to support the project. This initiative is part of the company's broader business diversification strategy.

The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for 2025, with the start of commercial production anticipated in the fiscal year 2031. This timeline underscores GAIL's commitment to long-term growth and sectoral leadership.
