Mitsubishi Chemical Group plans to expand into India’s green specialty sector, focusing on semiconductor and EV supply chain materials, according to CEO Manabu Chikumoto.
Speaking at a Bengal Chamber of Commerce event on 12 March 2025, Chikumoto highlighted growing interest from Japanese firms in the Indian market. Mitsubishi currently operates a polypropylene manufacturing facility in Rajasthan, an industrial gas business in Pune, and a compounding unit in Gujarat. The company is also considering establishing a mono methyl acrylate (MMA) business in India, complementing its existing plants in Saudi Arabia and Singapore.
To support its expansion, Mitsubishi is open to partnerships or setting up a greenfield unit for its new ventures.
