Saraogi Shellac Overseas Corporation, a leading producer of shellac and its derivatives, today announced its plans to establish a greenfield Ambrettolide manufacturing unit at Bhagardhar, Dankuni, West Bengal. The project, estimated to cost 4.45 crores. The new Ambrettolide manufacturing unit will have a capacity of 24 TPA (tonnes per annum) and will produce ambrettolide, a valuable fragrance ingredient with a wide range of applications in the perfume, cosmetic, and food industries
Currently, India is a net importer of ambrettolide. The establishment of Saraogi Shellac Overseas Corporation's Ambrettolide manufacturing unit will significantly increase India's production capacity of this essential fragrance ingredient, making the country a self-sufficient producer and potential exporter of ambrettolide.
Saraogi Shellac Overseas Corporation is committed to sustainable practices. The Ambrettolide manufacturing unit will be designed to minimize its environmental impact. The unit will use energy-efficient equipment and processes, and it will recycle and reuse waste materials.
As on December 2023, The project is now in the stage of receiving approvals. The project has received all necessary clearances. By the end of the year 2023, development on the project will have begun.
