The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has officially issued the work order for the reconstruction of the 40-year-old Shahad Railway Overbridge (ROB) on NH-61, connecting Kalyan and Ulhasnagar. Part of the broader Titwala-Badlapur road widening initiative, the project carries a technical approval of ₹325.93 crore (with ₹199.21 crore dedicated to civil works). Construction will feature two new two-lane bridges built in two phases to minimize traffic disruption, significantly easing congestion between Kalyan, Ulhasnagar, and Murbad while creating a dedicated route for heavy vehicles.
