The Central Government has sanctioned an investment of Rs 2,100 crore to transform the Veer Surendra Sai (VSS) Airport in Jharsuguda, Odisha, into a fully-fledged international aviation hub. The comprehensive expansion project entails extending the runway, constructing a modern terminal, and upgrading passenger amenities alongside the acquisition of approximately 350 acres of land for future growth.
Designed to accommodate a 41.2% surge in passenger traffic, the infrastructure overhaul will feature elements highlighting the rich art and cultural heritage of western Odisha. This strategic initiative aims to boost regional connectivity, stimulate tourism, and catalyze economic growth across key regional centers.
