BEML-Tesmec: Surface Miner Tech Arrives in India

BEML Limited, a leading Indian manufacturer of mining and construction equipment, has announced a strategic collaboration with Italy’s Tesmec S.p.A. to introduce advanced surface miner equipment for mining operations in India.

The partnership, formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), aims to bring cutting-edge surface mining technology to the Indian market. Surface miners are specialised machines used in open-cast mining that cut, crush, and load material in a single operation—eliminating the need for drilling and blasting. This technology offers a more efficient, precise, and environmentally friendly alternative to conventional mining methods.

With an established portfolio that includes hydraulic excavators, bulldozers, wheel loaders, and other heavy-duty machinery, BEML is strengthening its presence in the mining equipment sector through this initiative. The company’s recent expansion into underground mining solutions—featuring equipment such as underground mine cruisers and load haul dumpers (LHDs)—further reinforces its commitment to providing a comprehensive range of mining technologies tailored to India’s evolving industry needs.
