Bihar is set to strengthen its healthcare infrastructure with the construction of 50-bed Ayush hospitals in seven districts during the 2026–27 financial year.
Health Minister Mangal Pandey announced the initiative, which aims to improve access to traditional systems of medicine, particularly Ayurveda, in districts including Begusarai, Darbhanga, Motihari, Gopalganj, Gaya, Madhubani, and Siwan. Addressing a workshop for Ayush practitioners in Patna, Pandey underscored the need for capacity-building among practitioners of Ayurveda, Homeopathy, and Unani medicine to enhance service delivery across the state.
The initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to promote Ayush systems nationwide and reflects Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s focus on expanding alternative healthcare services in Bihar. It also complements the ongoing operation of 294 health and wellness centres across the state, which currently provide Ayush-based treatments to the public.
