Air India to train pilots in Maharashtra

Air India, under Tata Group ownership, is set to establish a state-of-the-art Flight Training Organisation (FTO) in Amravati, Maharashtra. Spanning 10 acres at Belora Airport, this facility aims to train 180 commercial pilots annually, making it the largest of its kind in South Asia. Scheduled to be operational by Q1/FY26, the FTO will feature digitally-enabled classrooms, world-class hostels, a digitised operation centre, and a maintenance unit.

The institute will house 31 single-engine and three twin-engine aircraft for comprehensive pilot training, offering a curriculum designed to global standards. Awarded the project by Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) for a 30-year term, Air India's initiative aims to bolster India's aviation self-reliance. It promises over 3,000 job opportunities within the aviation sector, fostering additional employment in related skilling and entrepreneurial ventures across Maharashtra.

This collaborative effort not only enhances the state's economic landscape but also underscores Air India's commitment to advancing aviation training infrastructure in India.
