Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a Navratna Defence PSU, has secured a ₹2,463 crore contract with the Ministry of Defence to supply and maintain indigenous Ashwini Radars for the Indian Air Force, as per a regulatory filing on March 12, 2025.
Developed in collaboration with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), these state-of-the-art AESA (Active Electronically Scanned Array) radars feature integrated IFF (Identification Friend or Foe) capabilities and provide 4D surveillance through electronic scanning in azimuth and elevation.
Designed for versatile deployment, the mobile radar systems can automatically detect and track aerial threats, from high-speed fighter jets to slow-moving targets. They are also equipped with advanced ECCM (Electronic Counter-Counter Measures) features to enhance operational efficiency.
With this latest order, BEL's total contract value for the current financial year has reached ₹17,030 crore, reinforcing its pivotal role in India's defense manufacturing sector.
