MEIL Bags Odisha’s Mega Lift Irrigation Project

Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Limited (MEIL) has emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) for a major irrigation project awarded by the Water Resources Department of Odisha.

The contract involves the execution of four lift irrigation schemes with intake points on the Tel River, the Mahanadi River, and the confluence of the Tel and Suktel rivers. These schemes, forming part of Cluster No. XXX in Sonepur district, will cover individual command areas ranging from 500 hectares to 2,000 hectares, with a total cultivable area of 6,025 hectares.

The scope of work includes the development of the distribution network, power system connectivity, and the operation and maintenance of the completed schemes for a period of 15 years. The project will be executed on an EPC-turnkey basis and is expected to significantly strengthen irrigation infrastructure in the region, providing long-term benefits to the local farming community.

MEIL’s successful bid further enhances its portfolio in water resources and irrigation development.
