Prostarm Secures Landmark 150 MW BESS Project with KPTCL

Prostarm Info Systems has been declared the lowest (L1) bidder by Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Ltd. (KPTCL) for a landmark renewable energy initiative involving the deployment of a 150 MW/300 MWh standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at the 400kV Doni Substation in Gadag district, operating at a 220kV voltage level.

Awarded under a tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) process, the project will be executed on a Build-Own-Operate (BOO) model. It includes viability gap funding (VGF) from the state, with a rental rate of ₹2.54 lakh per MW per month—equivalent to an annual rental of ₹45.72 crore for the full installation.

Designed for a 12-year operational life, the project will enhance grid reliability and flexibility, playing a key role in Karnataka’s efforts to integrate renewable energy and provide round-the-clock power. The L1 declaration highlights the accelerating adoption of energy storage as a critical enabler of sustainable energy infrastructure.
