Singareni Solar Gets Charged Up: BESS Bids Open for 28 MW Telangana Project

Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has initiated a request for proposals for a cutting-edge 1 MW/2.5 MWh grid-connected Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at its 28 MW solar project in Mancherial district, Telangana. With an estimated cost of Rs 50 million, this endeavor underscores SCCL's commitment to integrating advanced energy solutions into its operations.

The scope of work for potential bidders encompasses a comprehensive range of activities, including design, engineering, supply, transportation, installation, testing, and subsequent operations and maintenance for a duration of ten years. To participate, bidders are required to submit an earnest money deposit of Rs 500,000, showcasing their seriousness and financial capability.

Upon receiving the letter of award, the chosen developer must furnish a performance bank guarantee of Rs 50 billion within one month, ensuring adherence to contractual obligations and project delivery timelines. The bid submission deadline is set for June 18, 2024, providing interested parties with a defined window of opportunity to present their proposals.

The primary objective of the BESS is to effectively store surplus energy units generated by the solar project, exceeding SCCL's immediate load requirements. These stored electricity reserves will be subsequently released onto the Telangana Transmission Corporation grid at specified intervals, enhancing energy efficiency and grid stability.

SCCL reserves the right to conduct thorough inspections of the proposed BESS equipment, either at the manufacturer's facility or SCCL's premises, to ensure compliance with quality and performance standards. Additionally, the company may enlist the services of a third-party entity such as RITES to conduct independent inspections, further ensuring transparency and adherence to regulatory guidelines.
