RailTel Secures ₹217 Crore Bihar Safe City Project

RailTel Corporation of India has received a Letter of Intent (LoI) from the Bihar State Electronics Development Corporation to implement the “Mukhyamantree Surakshit Sushasit Shahar” (Safe City) project, valued at ₹216.81 crore (inclusive of taxes).

The project aims to strengthen urban safety and governance in selected cities across Bihar through the deployment of advanced surveillance, communication, and data management systems. Key components include high-definition CCTV surveillance, intelligent traffic management systems, integrated command and control centres, and analytics tools to support crime prevention and efficient law enforcement.

As the designated implementing agency, RailTel will handle the project’s complete lifecycle—system integration, installation, testing, commissioning, and long-term maintenance.

This award highlights RailTel’s growing capabilities in ICT and smart city domains, further expanding its role in large-scale government technology initiatives. The project aligns with Bihar’s broader vision of leveraging digital infrastructure for public safety and smarter urban governance, positioning RailTel as a leading player in India’s safe city and smart governance ecosystem.
