Southern Railway Signals Green Light for KRDCL-RVNL JV in ₹156 Crore Contract

KRDCL-RVNL JV has secured a significant contract valued at Rs 156.47 crore from Southern Railway. The joint venture, comprising Kerala Rail Development Corporation (KRDCL) and Rail Vikas Nigam (RVNL), will be responsible for the provision of automatic signalling on the Ernakulam-Vallattol Nagar (VTK) section on B-Route of the Thiruvananthapuram division. The project is set to be completed within a 25-month timeframe.

In this joint venture, KRDCL holds a majority share of 51 percent, while RVNL holds the remaining 49 percent. The collaboration between the two entities aims to leverage their combined expertise to enhance the railway infrastructure in the region, promising improved efficiency and safety in train operations.

RVNL is well-regarded for its extensive experience in executing a wide range of railway projects. These include gauge conversion, railway electrification, metro projects, workshops, and the construction of major bridges. The company’s involvement in the JV is expected to bring valuable technical expertise and project management skills to the table.

This contract marks another milestone for RVNL, showcasing its capability in undertaking complex and large-scale railway projects. The successful bid reinforces RVNL's position as a leading player in the railway infrastructure sector, known for delivering quality projects on time.

The automatic signalling project on the Ernakulam-Vallattol Nagar section is anticipated to significantly improve the operational efficiency of the Southern Railway network. By modernizing the signalling system, the project aims to enhance the safety and reliability of train services, benefiting passengers and the overall railway infrastructure in the Thiruvananthapuram division.
