ITI Secures ₹300 Crore Order from Bihar Govt for Solar Street Lights

ITI Limited, a central public sector undertaking, has bagged a significant order worth ₹300 crore from the Bihar Renewable Energy Development Authority (BREDA) to supply and install solar street light systems across Bihar. This contract falls under the Mukhyamantri Gramin Solar Street Light Yojana, aimed at enhancing rural infrastructure and promoting sustainable energy.

The order involves the delivery of 1,00,000 solar street light units, which will be manufactured at ITI’s Naini Plant, known for its expertise in solar panel production. The systems will include key components like solar PV modules, solar batteries, LED luminaries, and mounting structures. The project will be rolled out in districts such as Gopalgunj, Siwan, Samastipur, Purnia, Araria, Gaya, Darbhanga, Patna, Katihar, and Khagaria.

With this project, ITI is expected to play a vital role in advancing Bihar’s renewable energy initiatives. The company's Naini Plant has been manufacturing solar panels for six years, and this new contract adds to the 80,000 solar street light systems it is already executing for BREDA in Bihar. The project aligns with both state and national goals of promoting renewable energy and providing reliable lighting solutions in rural areas.

ITI’s broad expertise as a total solutions provider in the telecommunications and solar segments makes it a reliable partner for the Bihar government. The company has manufacturing facilities across six locations, including Bengaluru, Raebareli, and Mankapur, as well as a dedicated R&D center in Bengaluru.

This development is confirmed as a contract, further cementing ITI’s role in India's renewable energy sector while contributing to the state's sustainable growth and rural electrification efforts.
