NLC India Ltd. (NLCIL) has received a Letter of Award from NTPC to develop a 450 MW inter-state transmission system (ISTS)-connected wind-solar hybrid power project. The project was awarded under NTPC’s 1,200 MW renewable energy procurement scheme through a tariff-based competitive bidding process.
An additional 600 MW is available under the scheme’s Greenshoe option. This win strengthens NLCIL’s position as a key player in India’s renewable energy transition. The project is designed to deliver a minimum annual Capacity Utilisation Factor (CUF) of 30%, supporting efficient renewable integration while maintaining grid stability.
Power supply is expected to begin within 24 months of signing the 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). NLCIL may establish a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to facilitate project execution.
With this addition, NLCIL’s hybrid capacity will rise to 600 MW, including an ongoing 150 MW hybrid project awarded by SECI in Gujarat. The company remains on track to meet its ambitious goal of achieving 10 GW of renewable capacity by 2030.
