Parle Products is set to redevelop its iconic biscuit factory in Vile Parle East, Mumbai, into a commercial complex.
The original manufacturing site, spread across 5.44 hectares, is historically significant as the birthplace of the Parle-G biscuit. The redevelopment will feature a total built-up area of 1,90,360.52 sq. metres and is estimated to cost Rs 3,961.39 crore. The project comprises four buildings, each with two basement levels. The first three buildings will rise to six floors, with the A-wing of Building 1 partially earmarked for retail outlets, restaurants, and office spaces.
The redevelopment reflects a broader trend in Mumbai, where legacy industrial sites such as mills and factories are being transformed into high-value commercial real estate. This shift underscores the city’s transition from manufacturing-led activity to a service-driven economy, reshaping the urban skyline. As property values continue to rise, such projects are playing a key role in redefining Mumbai’s evolving urban landscape, in line with global patterns of industrial site transformation.
