New Incubation Centers and Tech Labs to Empower Delhi's Startups

The Delhi government is set to establish two new incubation centres for micro food processing enterprises and three advanced technology labs to bolster innovation and entrepreneurship in the capital, Industries Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa announced.

As part of the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme, an investment of ₹4.5 crore will be made to develop food processing incubators at the Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University’s (DSEU) World Class Skill Centres in Jhandewalan and Wazirpur. The university has already received an initial ₹50 lakh tranche and has started procuring bakery equipment for the centres.

Additionally, three state-of-the-art technology labs — including two Internet of Things (IoT) labs and one fabrication lab — will be established at the east and main campuses of Netaji Subhas University of Technology. Funded by a ₹3.06 crore corporate social responsibility (CSR) grant from the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC), the labs will support prototyping, testing, and skill development for students, faculty, and local entrepreneurs.

These initiatives aim to bridge the gap between ideas and implementation, fostering a startup ecosystem geared towards future-ready enterprises.
