Pralhad Joshi to Open Advanced Testing Lab in Ghaziabad

Union Minister of Food and Consumer Affairs, Pralhad Joshi, will inaugurate a state-of-the-art chemical testing laboratory at the National Test House (NTH) in Ghaziabad on September 10, 2025, marking a significant boost to India’s food safety and quality testing infrastructure.

The facility is accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) under ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standards and is approved by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), and under the Fertilizer Control Order (1985).

Designed to support multi-sectoral quality assurance, the lab will test a wide range of products including packaged and mineral water, food packaging materials, cement, metals, enamelled and insulated wires, coal, petroleum coke, bitumen, enamel paints, anti-skid materials, and filtration media.

Equipped with cutting-edge instruments such as atomic absorption spectrometers, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) systems, and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) machines, the facility is capable of performing high-precision chemical analyses. Future plans include expanding its scope to fortified foods, spices, and micronutrient testing.

In addition to testing, the lab will function as a center for training, research, and industry collaboration—enhancing national standards in food and product safety.
