Fizz for Telangana! Coca-Cola Pours ₹700 Crore into New Plant

The Coca Cola Company, through its subsidiary Hindustan Coca Cola Beverages Pvt. Ltd (HCCB), is set to expand its manufacturing capacity by establishing a new greenfield plant in Telangana. The project involves an investment of ₹700 crore, reflecting the company's commitment to increasing its production capabilities in India.

A senior-level ministerial delegation from Telangana, led by Minister for IT, Industries & Commerce D. Sridhar Babu and Minister for R&B and Cinematography Komatireddy Venkatreddy, along with Special Chief Secretary for IT and Industries & Commerce Jayesh Ranjan, recently visited Coca Cola's headquarters in Atlanta, USA. During the visit, the delegation engaged with Coca Cola's senior leadership, including Jonathan Reif, Head of Fiscal Policy, to discuss the expansion.

Coca Cola confirmed that the new plant will be located in Peddapalle district, with potential sites already shortlisted. Minister Sridhar Babu highlighted that this decision signifies a major shift of large-scale manufacturing capacities by multinational companies into the state's hinterland, moving away from Hyderabad. This move aligns with the new government's priority to promote distributed industrial growth across Telangana.

In addition to the manufacturing plant, the Telangana delegation proposed the establishment of a Coca Cola Technology Global Capability Centre in Hyderabad. This proposal is part of the state's IT strategy to attract more technology investments and create a robust tech ecosystem in the region.

The establishment of the new plant and the proposed technology centre underscore Telangana's growing appeal as an investment destination. These initiatives are expected to contribute significantly to the state's economic development and provide new employment opportunities for its residents.
