Gujarat's Agri-Boost: IFFCO Celebrates 50 Years with Seed Innovation Hub

On April 5, 2025, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah laid the foundation stone for the Beej Anusandhan Kendra, a dedicated seed research center at IFFCO's Kalol unit in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. This initiative is designed to boost agricultural productivity, enhance seed quality, and foster innovation in the farming sector. The event also celebrated IFFCO’s 50-year milestone, recognizing the organization’s significant contributions to India’s cooperative and agricultural landscapes. Minister Shah praised IFFCO for its strong ties with farmers and the cooperative ecosystem, highlighting its groundbreaking work in nano fertilizers, such as Nano Urea and Nano Di-Ammonium Phosphate (DAP), which are gaining international recognition.

The Beej Anusandhan Kendra is expected to be a transformative facility that will not only improve seed quality and crop yields but also reduce reliance on excessive water and fertilizers. In addition, the Ministry of Cooperation has launched 62 new initiatives, including the creation of Tribhuvan Sahkari University, which will offer modern cooperative education and integrate technologies like AI to shape the future of cooperative institutions.
