Nestlé India has officially laid the foundation stone for its new manufacturing facility in Khordha, Odisha, marking a major milestone as the company’s tenth factory in India and its first in the Eastern region.
The groundbreaking ceremony was graced by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. The new plant will be developed with an initial investment of approximately Rs 900 crore in its first phase and will focus on producing products from Nestlé’s food portfolio, specifically prepared dishes and cooking aids. This expansion is a part of the company’s strategy to enhance its footprint across India and align with the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.
Nestlé India’s manufacturing journey began with its first facility in Moga, Punjab, in 1961. Since then, the company has progressively expanded its presence across the country, with plants in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Haryana, Goa, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Gujarat, the latest being its Sanand plant in 2021.
