ata Chemicals has approved an investment of ₹515 crore to set up a greenfield manufacturing facility at Valinokkam, near Ramanathapuram district in Tamil Nadu.
The proposed plant will manufacture iodised vacuum salt dried (IVSD) with an annual capacity of 210 kilo tonnes per annum (KTPA) and is expected to be completed within 36 months. The project will be financed through a combination of internal accruals and external funding.
Currently, Tata Chemicals operates an IVSD facility with a capacity of 1.6 million tonnes per annum at its Mithapur plant in Gujarat. The new South India facility is expected to strengthen the company’s supply chain, improve regional availability, and reduce logistics costs.
The investment underscores Tata Chemicals’ strategy to expand its manufacturing footprint and operational efficiency in southern India.
