At a foundation stone-laying ceremony in Guwahati, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the commencement of three major projects — Medanta Super Speciality Hospital, Cocoon Mother and Childcare Hospital by RJ Corp Healthcare, and a Lemon Tree Hotel.
These initiatives aim to significantly strengthen Assam’s healthcare and hospitality infrastructure, while creating substantial employment opportunities for the state’s youth. CM Sarma noted that the projects form part of a broader investment push, which includes palm storage projects worth ₹300 billion, expected to raise Assam’s total investment pipeline to ₹1.78 trillion by December.
The Medanta Hospital will be developed over 3.5 acres, while the Cocoon Hospital and Lemon Tree Hotel will span 1.75 acres at Sarusajai, Guwahati. Collectively, these developments are poised to position Assam as a regional hub for healthcare and hospitality, catering not only to the state but also to neighbouring regions and Southeast Asia.
