ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) has received approval from the National Steering Committee to establish the Visakhapatnam ITI Cluster in Andhra Pradesh, marking a significant milestone under the Pradhan Mantri Skilling and Employability Transformation through Upgraded ITIs (PM-SETU) programme.
The project represents the first Strategic Investment Plan approved under the PM-SETU initiative and positions Andhra Pradesh as the first state to operationalise an industry partnership under the scheme. AM/NS India has partnered with the New Age Makers Institute of Technology as the academic collaborator for the cluster.
With a total outlay of ₹60,000 crore, the PM-SETU programme aims to modernise 1,000 government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) through an industry-led hub-and-spoke model. The initiative is designed to upgrade infrastructure, strengthen industry-academia collaboration, improve employability outcomes, and establish National Centres of Excellence in high-growth sectors.
