Maharashtra has cleared a ₹1,826-crore infrastructure push for Pune’s key industrial and IT hubs of Chakan and Hinjewadi, with major investments planned to upgrade roads, bridges, drainage and water infrastructure.
The plan includes around ₹1,400 crore for Chakan and ₹426.54 crore for Hinjewadi, including the clearing of 78 km of obstructed natural drains to tackle waterlogging, along with improvements to roads, bridges and water-storage systems.
The broader strategy targets transforming the Pune Economic Region into a USD 200–220 billion growth hub by 2036, creating up to two million additional opportunities, expanding the Pune Metro network to 250 km, and strengthening sectors such as automobiles and electronics.
