Tata Power Company has invited bids for the general civil and structural works package associated with the construction of plant facilities above and below ground for Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited (NINL) at the Kalinganagar Industrial Complex in Jajpur district, Odisha.
The package forms part of the larger development programme for the Tata Steel–Neelachal Ispat Nigam integrated steel plant and its supporting energy infrastructure. A key component of the initiative is the planned 3×67.5 MW co-generation power plant (CPP), which is being developed to enhance energy efficiency by utilising surplus by-product gases generated during steelmaking processes for power generation.
The scope of work encompasses comprehensive design, engineering, preparation of construction drawings, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning activities. It includes below-ground works such as site grading, excavation, foundations, underground utilities and earthworks, along with above-ground infrastructure comprising reinforced concrete structures, structural steel works, masonry, architectural finishing, waterproofing, plumbing, drainage systems, internal roads and other associated facilities.
The proposed co-generation facility is expected to play a significant role in optimising energy utilisation within the integrated steel complex by converting process gases into productive energy. Upon completion, the project will enhance operational efficiency, improve energy security, reduce overall power costs and support sustainable industrial operations at the Kalinganagar manufacturing hub.
The development also aligns with broader industry efforts to improve resource efficiency and reduce the environmental footprint of large-scale industrial operations through the adoption of integrated energy management solutions.
