A Golden Age of Limestone: GMDC's Strategic Alliance

Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation (GMDC) has signed a long-term supply agreement (LSA) with City Gold Pipes, a consortium of Goldcrest Cement and Kailash Darshan Housing Development (Gujarat).

Under this 40-year agreement, GMDC will supply 150 million tonnes of limestone from its upcoming Lakhpat Punrajpur Mine, located in Lakhpat Taluka, Kutch District, Gujarat. The agreement was formally signed on May 6, 2025, by Roopwant Singh, IAS, Managing Director of GMDC, and Sanjay Chimanlal Agrawal, Authorized Representative of City Gold Pipes.

This landmark agreement supports GMDC’s resource monetisation strategy and reinforces its commitment to sustainable economic development through responsible mineral extraction. The Lakhpat Punrajpur Mine is set to become a key source of high-grade limestone, essential for cement production and infrastructure projects. The partnership is expected to unlock the potential of the region’s mineral reserves and contribute significantly to Gujarat’s industrial growth and sustainable resource management.
