Powering Progress: ADB's ₹975 Cr. Boost for Tripura Industry

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a loan of ₹975.26 crore to strengthen industrial infrastructure across nine industrial zones in Tripura, marking a major push for the state’s economic development.

According to Tripura Industrial Development Corporation (TIDC) Chairman Nabadal Banik, the funds will be used to build industrial sheds, power substations, underground electrical lines, fire stations, and 34 new roads. Key industrial hubs set to benefit include Bodhjungnagar, R K Nagar, Dukli, and AN Nagar.

In addition, the state government has earmarked 127 acres in Santirbazar (South Tripura) and 28 acres in Fatikroy (Unakoti district) to support new industrial projects. As part of a revival effort, TIDC has reclaimed 28 acres from 24 non-operational units, opening the door for fresh entrepreneurial ventures.

Tripura is also positioning itself as a hub for rubber and plywood-based industries. “Two plywood units are currently operational, and seven more are in the pipeline,” Banik stated, adding that the state aims to become a leader in rubber wood-based plywood production.
